Tank Repair and Refurbishment

Rhyal Engineering can offer a specialist service to fully refurbish or modify existing storage tanks and vessels, as follows:

  • Engineering design for repairs or modifications to API 653 or EEMUA 159.
  • Raising the tank above grade on a specialist hydraulic jacking system.
  • Refurbishment of the existing tank foundation.
  • Installation of secondary containment.
  • Removal and replacement of tank floors.
  • Removal and replacement of tank shell plates.
  • Installation of additional shell rings to increase capacity
  • Removal and replacement of tank roofs.
  • Dismantling, transfer to a new location and rebuilding of tanks.
  • Transfer of complete tanks to a new location (dependent on size and distance).

All repairs and modifications are completed in accordance with BS EN14015/EEMUA 159 or API 650/653 construction and repair codes.

Older tanks often suffer corrosion to the floor, shell and roof plating or require modifications to suit a future change of service. The repair and upgrade of existing tanks presents as much, if not a more formidable and specialist task than the construction of new tanks. Our management and personnel have been selected and recruited on the basis of providing extensive experience and knowledge of previous tank repairs and modifications. We have therefore built an enviable reputation on our ability to take on all aspects of minor and major tank refurbishment and produce a quality repair, on time, every time. Whatever your refurbishment problems present, Rhyal Engineering has the professional and practical solution to meet the challenge.

Rhyal Engineering can be involved at every stage of the refurbishment from initial handover, through to return to service, managing the process as the Principal Contractor in accordance with the CDM regulations where required.
